How To Do It

Maintain funk groove underneath the stop; practice clear shapes and relaxed transitions.

Common Errors

Stops become tense; groove disappears; shapes are vague.

If It's Too Hard

Practice groove and lock separately before combining.

If It's Too Easy

Add character, musical stops, vocabulary combinations and freestyle.

How You'll Know You've Got It

Demonstrate groove + lock + point/character variation in musical context.
